Week Beginning 14 November 2016

MESSAGES

  • No School: A reminder that Monday (14) and Tuesday (15)are  holidays.
  • As the weather has now changed, please ensure that your children’s spare clothes in school are suitable for the colder months.
  • Please send your child to school with a warm, outside, labelled jacket or coat.
  • We would appreciate any spare clothes you have at home to add to our collection this includes socks, underwear, tshirts, jumpers and trousers . Children occasionally need to be changed and it is always good to have a selection ready. On this note if your child has borrowed any spares, could you please wash them and return them to school.  Thank you for your continued support with this.

LEARNING THEME: Christmas                                                                              

THE BIG QUESTION: WHY DO WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS?

This week we will be continuing to prepare for our winter production. We will be looking at the story of Christmas and learning more Christmas songs, ready to preform for all the parents on December 6th.

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE

We will continue to look at the story of Christmas, looking at the characters within the story. We will be looking at the titles ‘Ceansus taker’, ‘wiseman’, ‘shepards’ and ‘inn keeper’ and finding out exactly what these titles mean. We will be thinking about the roles these people use to play and what they might do now.

PHONICS

We will continue playing some simple phonics games with the children to develop their listening skills.

We will consolidate sounds the children already know. Check inside phonics packs  to see if there are any new letters to learn. Here is a link to some great apps that will support the phonics work we are doing in school for phase two and beyond.

MATHS

In Maths the children will be working on estimations. Looking at quantities of items the children will be asked to guess how many they think there are and then count to see if they are right. The children will also be encouraged to use the language of less and more when talking about the difference between their estimation and the answer.

DUTCH

De kleuters openen deze week het thema `feest`!   Jules wordt  bijna 5 !  We openen een feestwinkel waar  je alle  feestbenodigdheden kan aanschaffen en denken na over het perfecte verjaardagsfeest voor Jules!

 In `Villa Letterpret`zoeken we voorwerpen met de `f` van  feest en klappen we feestbenodigdheden in klankgroepen.
