MESSAGES

  • Welcome back after the holidays and we hope you have had a wonderful time with family and friends over Chinese New Year.

LEARNING THEMES

We have been inspired by the children’s interests to take their learning on a journey. Each class will be looking at different kinds of vehicles and transport; cars and trucks, space ships and rockets, diggers and cranes or trains and planes. The children will be given the opportunity to make vehicles from junk materials, draw and label their own drawings, create their own roleplay environments, and listen to and write stories about journeys. We will be inviting the children to think about how different vehicles work and what they are used for and asking the children what they want to find out about transport and jorneys and supporting them to find the answers.

LITERACY- READING, SPEAKING, LISTENING and UNDERSTANDING

Story Time - We will be looking at lots of books about travelling and vehicles. We will be looking at information books as well as as stories and talking about the differences between fact and fiction. We will be encouraging the children to talk about the stories, making comments about the pictures and ask questions too.

PHONICS

The children will continue to progress with their ‘Letters and Sounds’ and, working with class teachers throughout the week to consolidate their phonic skills, learn new sounds as they are ready to move on. Please check your children’s phonics pack for new sounds, tricky words and common sight words to practise at home in line with their learning at school.

MATHS – NUMBER

We use number all the time and we will be focusing on quantity. The children will be counting out objects to 10, 20 and beyond to consolidate their understanding that a number represents a quantity. The children will be encouraged to represent numbers with objects, marks they make and Numicon shapes.

PSED – TEAM WORK

We will be working with the children on their team work skills, taking turns, and understanding that their actions impact on those around them. We will be playing playground games and table top games as well as working with the children during their Playing and Learning time to develop their ability to collaborate as they play.

THEME: We will keep on learning about Chinese New Year,introducing Lantern Festival.

DUTCH

Na al dat stoere riddergeweld nemen deze week de prinsessen het kasteel over.  We maken kennis met het sprookje `De prinses op de erwt` en praten over wat het inhoudt om een echte prinses te zijn.  In `Willewete: Prinsessen`komen we het allemaal te  weten!
