Literacy

In Literacy this week we will begin a new topic on poetry. The children will be learning to recite classic poems and discussing their favourite poems. Many of the poems we will look at are about animals so the children will learn the poems with appropriate animal actions! The grammar focus for the week will be possessive apostrophes.

Mathematics

In Maths the children will continue to revise the previous week’s work and then begin to apply this knowledge to word based problems. The focus of the lessons will be very much dependent on the children’s individual strengths and weaknesses. Some of the areas the children might cover are; handling data, time, measures, shape and positional language.

Themed Learning

The children will be learning about tribes that live in the Amazon rainforest. They will leant about the different customs and dress in some of the different types and then begin to write a simple diary of a tribe’s person’s daily life.

PSHCE

The teachers will teach the children playground games and discuss what it means to be a good friend.
