Week Beginning 24 October 2016

The hearing Screening Test will be held on Monday 24 October for those children already signed up.

MESSAGES

  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
  • Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a coat during the cold/wet weather.
  • If for any reason your child is unable to take part in PE, please send a signed message in your child’s communication book.  Your child still needs to bring in their PE kit to enable them to participate as a coach, an official or to give feedback.

LITERACY

In Literacy the children will continue our unit of work on instructions. The children will learn how to use imperative verbs to improve their sentence structure. In addition to this, they will learn about different types of sentences with a focus on command sentences. The children will display their learning by writing a detailed set of instructions about how to make a pizza or a sandwich.

MATHS

In Maths the children will be learning how to tell the time. They will begin the week with a recap of o’clock and half past times and then begin to tell the time to quarter past and quarter to. Some children will move onto telling the time to five minute intervals on both analogue and digital clocks.

THEMED LEARNING

In Themed Learning the children will be continuing to use all the information they have gathered from their trip to the Urban Planning Museum to make huge city clay. Last week the children made pro-type models using putty clay, this week they will use clay to make a version of the buildings they designed during ‘architect week.’

PSHCE

The children will be focusing on expressing their ideas, opinions and views with confidence.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

This week the children will be learning to add a variable to a series of codes.

DUTCH

Naar aanleiding van het kinderboekenweekthema `Voor altijd jong`praten we deze week over onze oma`s en opa`s.  Naar aanleiding van het boek `Mijn oma is opeens heel anders`hebben we het over sportieve oma`s, lieve oma`s, dappere oma`s , grappige oma`s.... Wat voor een oma heb jij?   We vergelijken foto`s van het schoolleven vroeger en nu en stellen een vragenlijst op voor oma en opa.
