We are running the HSK examination on Saturday 12th November 2016. Registration is open to students, parents and friends who have an interest in taking this test. For more information, please kindly refer to the letter.
- Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
- Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a hat during the hot weather.
- If for any reason your child is unable to take part in PE, please send a signed message in your child’s communication book. Your child still needs to bring in their PE kit to enable them to participate as a coach, an official or to give feedback.
In Literacy the children will continue a three week unit of work on Poetry. They will be learning what Specific Nouns are and then using this knowledge to write poems that contain specific nouns. They will learn several songs about nouns to help them to gain a clear understanding of the concept. They will then read and annotate a poem by Michael Rosen about a bed that can do anything and fly anywhere! At the end of the week the children will write their own magical poem about a flying bed!
This week the children will be learning about 2D shapes. Following some revision of the basic shape names the children will then learn to describe the amounts of sides and corner a shape has. They will then use a Venn diagram to sort the shapes according to their relative properties.
In Themed Learning the children will continue to learn about the Art Deco period. They will be learning to use and interpret evidence by looking at photos of old Shanghai and comparing these to modern pictures. They will use the "I see, I think, I wonder" technique to examine the evidence. They will collect all of the evidence and make a small history booklet about Shanghai’s old buildings.
The children will be focusing on expressing their ideas, opinions and views with confidence.
Literacy – simile, poem, verse, adjective, verb, noun
Math’s – squares triangle, angles, circles, corners and sides.
Humanities – art deco, Hudec, column, fans, arches
COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY
This week the children will be learning to add a variable to a series of codes.

The students will review the topics (numbers, date, birthday). They will review the Chinese phonetics .( a o e i u ü b p m f)
