Week Beginning 28 November 2016

MESSAGES

  • Raincoat - Please ensure that your child brings a raincoat to school for the wet weather.
  • Swimming - Please be aware that the days are getting colder and wetter so please dress your child accordingly.  On swimming days girls may wear dark leggings and matching dark socks instead of tights to make it easier for them to get dressed.  A warm hat is also recommended.
  • Maths Workshop for Parents and Students – Tuesday 29 November 4:30 – 5:30pm

LITERACY

In Literacy the children will be celebrating poetry week by listensing to poems by Michael Rosen. They will study his poem entlitled  ‘I know someone…’ Following this, they will begin to write their own version of this poem using the repeated language found within the poem. Next they will practise reciting their poem with a partner and finally all the children will film themselves performing their poem.

KEY VOCABULARY

Rhythm, rhyme, repeat,  verse, expression

MATHS

In Maths, the children will be learning positional and directional vocabulary and how to use this vocabulary to give commands or make statements. They will describe objects using the following vocabulary; on top, under, next to, besides, between, opposite. They will then learn to give instructions using the commands right and left. Finally, they will learn how to distinguish between 1/2, 1/4 and 3/4 turns both clockwise and anti-clockwise.

THEMED LEARNING

In Themed Learning the children will be reviewing all the work they have completed this term in readiness for their Learning Showcase.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

This week the children will be learning to add a variable to a series of codes.
