Week Beginning 12 December 2016

Please note that Term 1 ECAs and BISCAP have now finished.  The Term 2 programme will begin on Monday 9 January 2017.

MESSAGES

  • Homework will be given out on Wednesdays and expected in on Mondays. 
  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
  • Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a raincoat for wet weather.
  • If for any reason your child is unable to take part in PE, please send a signed message in your child’s communication book.  Your child still needs to bring in their PE kit to enable them to participate as a coach, an official or to give feedback.  If your child would be swimming, they should bring their normal PE kit.
  • Please be aware that the days are getting colder and wetter and dress your child accordingly.   A warm hat is also recommended, particularly on swimming days.
  • Date for the diary: Year 3 will be having their Themed Learning Showcase on Wednesday 7 December from 9:00am – 10:15am. We would like to invite parents to join us in celebrating all of the hard work the children have done during their ‘Footprints from the Past’ topic.
  • Week beginning 27th March is International Week and we will have the International Day Parade during this week. As many of you may be returning home for the Chirstmas vacation we would like to inform you of this upcoming event. This advance notice may give you an opportunity to prepare any clothes from your home country for this special event.

LITERACY

This week in Literacy we will be continuing to look at producing accurate sentences. Over the week we will be focusing on  punctuation and conjunctions . We will explore different types of punctuation and how to use a variety of conjunctions to begin to expand our sentences.

MATHS

In Maths this week, the children will be enjoying solving some festive themed problems and investigations. Children will need to use strategies and lateral thinking to find solutions to problems involving all four of the basic maths operations.

THEMED LEARNING

We will continue to look at paintings and how they communicate about life in the past. The children will first of all identifty locations around the globe where some cave paintings have been found. They will then work as a group to create a cave painting.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

This week the children will continue learning the foundations of computer programming. They will be using the Espresso Coding website , which enables pupils to create programs by using code blocks.

We blikken deze week terug op het thema. We evalueren het themawerk: de profielen, de mindmaps, het beeldverslag, de presentaties en de interviews. Als we tijd over hebben verdiepen we ons in Kerstmis en schrijven we kerstwensen.

Indien u het interview met opa of oma nog niet hebt ingeleverd, ontvang ik het alsnog graag op een memorystick of op de iPad.

Alvast een fantastische vakantie gewenst voor iedereen die eerder vertrekt!

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Caldwell

Next week we will be finishing our Christmas booklet and pen-pal letters to our school in Vietnam. We will also be learning some Spanish Christmas songs and playing some Christmas games.

Homework this week is to finish collecting information about our Christmas traditions from our home countries.

This week`s homework will be practising Christmas vocabulary by exploring the digital advent calendar on the website from Jeanne De La Lune.

Cette semaine, nous allons étudier les différents sons de la lettre g et travailler sur comment identifier le sujet d’un verbe.

Pour les devoirs, l es élèves doivent écrire une lettre au père Noël et expliquer s’ils ont été sages cette année (il faut donner des preuves!) et ce qu’ils voudraient pour Noël.

Nachdem die Kinder neue Bücher geliehen haben, war die Grammatik und Rechtschreibung unser Schwerpunkt. Wir haben bestimmte Artikel wiederholt und die Groβschreibung am Satzanfang geübt.
Zu Hause sollten die Schüler also in ihren Büchern weiterlesen, in ihren Lesetigerheften dazu schreiben (natürlich Groβschreibung beachten) und im Booklet S. 20 machen „Fast ein Unfall!“
