- Please note that the BISCAP/ECA/BISS LIONS Swim programme has now finished. There will only be buses at 3:30pm from now on.
- Now the weather is getting warmer, please could you encourage your child to bring in a hat and also a water bottle so that they remain well hydrated during the day.
- Please label all school uniform, snack boxes and water bottles to avoid items getting lost in school.
- Year 3 are all looking forward to their Class Party, put on by the Room Parents on Tuesday 20th June, next week. The children are invited to come in party clothes for the whole day to celebrate. The party has a fun fair theme, so it will be great to see lots of fun summer outfits!
- There will also be a hat competition running. There is ONE summer giveaway prize available for the best hat creation in each class. Your hat could be summer or beach themed, inspired by the seaside or simply decorated with flowers. Good luck to all these who choose to enter!
- Reuse, Reduce, Recycle: Second Hand Uniform Sale
It is that time of the year again when many families are preparing to move away from Shanghai and on to new adventures! Or perhaps your child has simply outgrown their current tops and bottoms. Please consider donating all your unneeded BISS Puxi uniforms to the Second Hand Uniform Sale. All items can be dropped at the Primary or Secondary reception desks until the end of the school year. All items need to be clean and in good condition, thanks for your support. The next Second Hand Uniform Sale will take place at the start of the new school year. So please come and restock your children's uniforms at the sale in beginning of September. If you would like to work on the Second Hand Uniform Sale project, please email Tracy at email@example.com. It only involves 4 afternoons over the course of the school year and all proceeds go to charity.

In Literacy this week, we will be continuing our focus on different forms of poetry. They will be continuing to learn from the form and structure of different poems and before going on to create their own versions based on a chocolate theme. Our final stage will be to publish our poems to share with the other classes in Year 3.

This week we will be focusing our attention on angles and turns in Maths. The children will be learning about how to recognise angles as a property of shape and associate angles with turning. The focus wil be on identifying right angles, and stating whether angles are greater than (obtuse) or less than (acute) a right angle.

This week Year 3 will be getting stuck into Science Week. Across the week, we will be conducting lots of different experiements and investigations, with the focus being on learning about theskills Science. We will be starting with thinking about how to write a plan, make a predicition based on our prior knowledge and record our observations. Our learning will then move on to looking at how we can include research in our experiments, to help us explain our conclusions with greater scientific accuracy. We look forward to a fun week of being super scientists!

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY
In Computing we will be continuing our last unit of coding, using code.org. The children will begin with offline activities designed to help them to understand the concepts of sequencing in algorithms. They will progress on to using a simplified version of Python to complete more and more complicated challenges, building their understanding and use of computer programming.

We werken verder aan ons onderzoek voor onze vlog: ‘ode aan de ... !’ Leerlingen leggen een dier naar keuze onder de loep: wat is het natuurlijke habitat, hoe ziet het eruit (als jong, volwassen dier, bejaard dier), waarvan leeft het, hoe leeft het (alleen of in een groep), etc.
Als de informatie verzameld is schrijven de leerlingen hun script en filmen we de vlog met ‘the green screen’ op de achtergrond.
De laatste Cito-scores worden deze week verwerkt. Resultaten worden eind deze week gecommuniceerd.
De leerlingen die ons helaas gaan verlaten, ontvangen van SDS een onderwijskundig rapport. Hierin staan o.a. de uitslagen op de toetsen vermeld, evenals een uitgebreide persoonlijk commentaar.
