MESSAGES

  • Please note that there will be no ECAs on Tuesday 21 or Thursday 23 February due to Parent Teacher Conferences.  LKS2 Beginner Trumpet, UKS2 Native German, BISCAP and Swimming will not be affected.

  • We do our best to ensure the children’s hair is dried after swimming. To support us with this please can you make sure that your child brings a rubber swim hat, and a warm hat for outside play. Thank you for your continued support with this.
  • Now the weather is colder, please send your child with a coat and/or school fleece clearly labelled with their name.  Please do not send ‘hoodies’.  Children may also like to bring a hat to keep their head warm, especially after swimming. 

LITERACY

This week in Literacy, we will be continuing with the unit on diaries. The children will be using the knowledge gained in the previous week to create their own diary entries about each day’s activities at school. Special activities led by members of the class will ensure that the children have very memorable events to write abut in their diaries.

MATHS

In Maths, the children will be progressing their understanding of multiplication. After recapping mental methods, the children will go on to learn formal written methods of multiplication in order to multiply 2-digit numbers. They wll apply their understanding to solving word problems and conducting a Maths investigation.

THEMED LEARNING

In Themed Learning we will be starting our Science unit on Light and Shadows. The children will be looking at natural and manmade light sources, investigating how light travels and understanding how the colours of the spectrum combine to make white light.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

In Computer Programming the children will be learning to manipulate and edit photographs. They will then use the photographs to make a short video montage.

PSHCE

Our focus this week in PHSCE will be to collaborate. This will be an important to ensure successful theatre designs. When working as a team, we will be focusing on listening to others, sharing ideas and opinions, being patient with each other and making compromises.

DUTCH

Thema Blijspel

Deze week nemen we de Cito-toetsen spelling en de technisch lezen toetsen af.  De leerlingen kunnen spelling extra oefenen met de kaartjes van ‘Spelling Laat Zien’.

Alle leerlingen hebben een script van ‘hun’ toneelstuk. We oefenen deze week de rollen, werken aan de achtergrond en filmen alvast wat stukken. Houd zeker woensdag 1 maart vrij in uw agenda. Dan zullen de leerlingen hun ‘Blijspel’ opvoeren.

MFL

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Caldwell

Next week we will continue to work on building sentences using vocabulary re: names of rooms/ items in the house.  We will add prepositions to begin describing where things are.
Homework this week is to finish any board games from last week and to revise vocabulary on Linguascope.

Next week we will continue learning about parts of the body, and the use of the letter Homework:  To review vocabulary using Rockalingua.

Year 3 / 4 French – Ms De Borger

Next week we will continue talking about food, ordering food in our sandwich shop and making sandwiches for our class mates. 

This week’s homework will be making your favourite sandwich by creating a sky scraper sandwich in French.  Key Vocabulary: ‘ Je voudrais…’, le sandwich, la baguette, le jambon, le fromage, la confiture, les tomates, le beurre, la salade

La semaine prochaine, nous travaillerons sur les homonymes a/as/à, et/es/est. Pour les devoirs, on doit compléter la feuille de conjugaisons donnée en classe.

Die Bildergeschichten verstehen, die Überschriften zu finden und das Ende auszudenken war diese Woche unsere Hauptbeschäftigung. Zu Hause sollten die Kinder ebenfalls die Geschichte schreiben, und zwar zu den Bildern, die sie im Unterricht ausgewählt haben. Und natürlich lesen nicht vergessen!

La semana próxima trabajaremos la comprensión lectora y el resumen. Para deberes, deben escribir sobre lo que han hecho el fin de semana, prestando especial atención a las grafías ‘g’, ‘j’, ‘gue’, ‘gui’ ‘c’, ‘que’ y ‘qui’.
