MESSAGES

  • Now the weather is getting warmer, please could you encourage your child to bring in a hat and also a water bottle so that they remain well hydrated during the day.
  • Please label all school uniform, snack boxes and water bottles to avoid items getting lost in school.

LITERACY

In Literacy this week, we will begin three weeks of learning about plays. The children will first look at examples of plays and identify the features. They will take on roles to practise their speaking and performance, particularly using expression, intonation and volume to demonstrate their understanding of a script.

MATHS

This week we will be revisiting multiplication and division, consolidating mental and written methods for these operations. The children will focus on partitioning and rounding mentally, and short method for written calculation. Finally, the children will apply these skills to solve problems.

THEMED LEARNING

In Science, we will continue to practice investigatation skills, focusing on the importance of variables in conducting a fair test. The children will experiment by making cookies, changing a different variable each time and observing the effects. They will be writing up their conclusions from the results experiments, linking back to their prediction.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

In Computing we will be starting our last unit of coding, using code.org. The children will begin with offline activities designed to help them to understand the concepts of sequencing in algorithms. They will progress on to using a simplified version of Python to complete more and more complicated challenges, building their understanding and use of computer programming.

DUTCH

Kunst, met een grote K

Tentoonstelling

Deze week ronden we het thema af en evalueren we wat we geleerd hebben. Op donderdag 25 mei openen we de expositie ‘Kunst, met een grote K’ in de gang bij de Nederlandse lokalen. Informatie volgt in de SDS-Nieuwsbrief.

Ook zullen we langzaam starten met de voorbereiding van de Cito-toetsen die zeer spoedig weer zullen aanvangen. In verband met verschillende schooltrips en sportevenementen lopen de startdata wat uiteen, maar bijna alle klassen in KS2 starten na het lange weekend. Een enkele leerling begint volgende week.

De leerlingen kunnen niet leren voor de Cito-toets. Wel is het aan te raden om trouw het Nieuwsbegrip en BLOON-huiswerk te maken, omdat de vraagstelling en de spellingcategorieën overeenkomen met de Cito-opgaven. Alle leerlingen hebben de inloggegevens voor beide websites. Mocht het inloggen niet lukken, neem dan contact op met Chris (c-samsom@bisspuxi.com).

MFL

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Caldwell
Next week, the children will be cooking some Spanish recipes and writing the instructions for this in Spanish.  They will use verbs such as ‘mix’, ‘pour’, ‘cook’ as well as previously learned vocabulary.  The end result should be a recipe book which they can then take home in order to create some culinary delights for the whole family!
Homework this week is to source ingredients for cooking!

Year 3 / 4 French – Ms De Borger
Next week we will have our French birthday party.  We will sing a French birthday song and practise congratulating each other in French.

La semaine prochaine, nous continuerons notre travail sur les fonctions des mots dans la phrase et nous aborderons les COD et COI. Pour les devoirs, il faut compléter les exercices sur les adverbes/compléments circonstanciels pages 252-253.

Die Schüler präsentierten stolz ihre wunderbaren kreativen Poster "Als ich ein Baby war" und dann untersuchten sie, wie unbestimmte Artikel benutzt werden. Zu Hause sollten die Kinder die Seite 49 im Booklet machen und die unbestimmten Artikel von den Zeitbegriffen üben. Und natürlich ihre Lesetigerhefte nicht vergessen!

La semana que viene vamos a enfocarnos en ortografía y conjugación gramática y ortografía para prepararnos para el examen de final de año. Para deberes, deben revisar lo que hemos hecho hasta ahora.
