Week Beginning 24 April 2017

MESSAGES

  • ‘Let’s Be Ambitious’ - We will be sending home an extra optional homework sheet on Wednesday for the children that like an extra challenge.  More information will be available in the homework folders.
  • Now the weather is getting warmer, please could you encourage your child to bring in a hat and also a water bottle so that they remain well hydrated during the day.
  • Please label all school uniform, snack boxes and water bottles to avoid items getting lost in school.
  • Year 3 will be basing our work around ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by Roald Dahl.  It would be fantastic if you could support the children out of school by helping them to read the book and/or watch the film to get them all ready for learning in class.

LITERACY

In Literacy this week, we will continue looking at ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by Roald Dahl. We will start by learning a text map of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ in order to learn the structure and style of Roald Dahl. We will then use a story mountain to plan our own adventure inside the chocolate factory.

MATHS

This week the children will add and subtract numbers with up to three digits, using the efficient written methods of columnar addition and subtraction. They will also cover estimating and using inverse operations to check answers.

THEMED LEARNING

“Chocolate”

The children will start to explore the exciting world of the Aztecs. To introduce them to the Aztecs, the children will focus on Aztec art. They will be covering the techniques of weaving this week and printing. They will be using these skills to create an Eye of God and will be tie-dying fabric to print on using their own printing blocks.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

In Digital Literacy we will continue to look at keeping safe on the Internet and carrying out safe searching for information. We will focus on looking at how to search effectively for information, choose the best information to meet their research needs, and how to record it.

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Caldwell

Next week, we will be continuing to work on our Body Parts Topic.  We will use vocabulary learned to construct basic sentences to describe people in more detail.  For example, ‘His eyes are brown.’ We will aim to be able to attempt to play a Spanish version of ‘Guess Who?’.
Homework this week will be to revise the vocabulary for body parts on Linguascope.

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Martinez

Next week we will revise vocabulary for months, days and numbers.  We will also be doing some calendar work.
Homework:To use Linguascope and Rockalingua to revise and improve on food vocabulary.

Next week we will continue recording our presentations for our exchange project with the British school in Vietnam.  We will talk about our hobbies, our family and our favourite animals, using our drawings to support our presentation. 

This week’s homework will be presenting your self-portrait and your pen pal letter to your parents.

La semaine prochaine, nous étudierons la formation de l'imparfait et travaillerons sur l'utilisation des deux temps du passé, le passé composé et l'imparfait, dans des exercices écrits. Pour les devoirs, il faut compléter la feuille d'exercices sur les accords du passé composé.

Nachdem die Schüler kurze Gedicht ueber die Monate dichteten, lasen wir welche in unserem Booklet vor. Danach lernten die Kinder, wie man eine Einladung schreibt und verfassten ihre Einladungen zur Party.
Zu Hause sollten sie die Vorlage „Einladung zur Gruselparty“ nutzen und ihre Einladung schreiben.

De verhalen van Y3 en Y4 vinden deze week een plekje in het Muurseum. Wegens het grote schrijfsucces van de leerlingen publiceren we ook ‘Het Grote Muurseum Voorleesboek’ met alle kunstwerken en verhalen van leerlingen.
