MESSAGES

  • Now the weather is getting warmer, please could you encourage your child to bring in a hat and also a water bottle so that they remain well hydrated during the day.
  • Please label all school uniform, snack boxes and water bottles to avoid items getting lost in school.

LITERACY

In Literacy this week, we will continue with our unit on plays. The children will familiarise themselves with a simple play, taking on roles to practise their speaking and performance, particularly using expression, intonation and volume to demonstrate their understanding of the script. They will then use this as a basis to apply their understanding of the features of playscripts to begin planning and creating their own.

MATHS

This week we will be continuing with applying multiplication and division skills to solve problems. The children will concentrate on using systems to carry out a maths investigation, looking for patterns that can be applied algebraically.

THEMED LEARNING

The children will begin working on their Design Technology project to make a 3D bar of chocolate. They will use a dvd case as a base to mould a chocolate bar using papier mache. Next they will design the wrapper, adding rolled paper to make a relief. Finally they will paint the bar and the wrapper to add the finishing touches to their final product.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

In Computing we will be continuing our last unit of coding, using code.org. The children will begin with offline activities designed to help them to understand the concepts of sequencing in algorithms. They will progress on to using a simplified version of Python to complete more and more complicated challenges, building their understanding and use of computer programming.

DUTCH

In het wild

Het thema kunst is afgerond en deze laatste weken werken we aan het thema ‘In het wild’. In dit thema doen leerlingen rollenspellen, maken ze een stripverhaal over een zelfverzonnen avontuur of aflevering van Freek in het Wild en maken ze een vlog van een ode aan hun favoriete dier, geïnspireerd op de boeken ‘Zij de cobra, wij de adder’ (Y3 en 4) en ‘stem op de okapi’ (Y5 en 6).  

Cito-toetsen

Deze week starten we op vrijdag de Cito-toetsen. De onderdelen begrijpend en technisch lezen, spelling en woordenschat worden getoetst. Leerlingen kunnen niet voor de toetsen leren, maar worden aangemoedigd om extra spelling te oefenen met BLOON (www.bloon.nl, inlognaam is SDSyear3 of SDS year4 of SDSyear5 of SDSyear6, wachtwoord spellen). Het trainen van spelling is een kwestie van herhaling. 

MFL

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Caldwell
This week the children will continue to work on their Food Topic, finishing their recipe books to take home. They will continue to use imperative verbs to build sentences. They have completed their pen-pal letters to the school in Vietnam and are awaiting their response!
Homework this week is to research another Spanish recipe to share with the class.

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Martinez
Next week we will test each other on our Kahoot quizzes, and learn about birthday dates and celebrations in Spain.
Homework:  There will be no homework due to the long weekend.

Year 3 / 4 French – Ms De Borger
Next week we will start our last topic for this year.  Inspired by the Belgian surrealistic painter René Magritte `s famous painting `Ceci n`est pas une pomme` we will make our own fruit paintings.  We will paint different fruits and will name them in French.  There is no homework this week due to the long weekend.

Im Unterricht beschäftigten wir uns mit den Vorsilben (ver- und vor-) und mit den langen und kurzen Selbstlauten. Auf spielelerische Weise übten die Kinder die Regeln anzuwenden. Diese Woche gibt es keine weitere Hausaufgabe auβer natürlich dem Lesetigerbuch.

La semana que viene vamos a ver los exámenes finales corregidos y vamos a corregir los errores que hayamos cometido. Luego revisaremos materia para afianzar y mejorar. No hay deberes para estas vacaciones, os deseamos un feliz puente.
