Week Beginning 13 February 2017

MESSAGES

  • We do our best to ensure the children’s hair is dried after swimming. To support us with this please can you make sure that your child brings a rubber swim hat, and a warm hat for outside play. Thank you for your continued support  with this.
  • Now the weather is beginning to get colder, please send your child with a coat and/or school fleece clearly labelled with their name.  Please do not send ‘hoodies’.  Children may also like to bring a hat to keep their head warm, especially after swimming. 

LITERACY

In Literacy, we will continue narrative writing with a focus on describing characters through inference. We will consider how authors bring charcters to life through vocabulary of movement, dialogue and personality. Children will then compose their own character introduction to a scene expressing traits and emotions without stating them directly.

MATHS

Time is our topic next week in Maths and the children will start off by consolidating their ability to tell the time using both analogue and digital clocks, in 12hr and 24hr formats.  Throughout the week lessons will focus on converting between seconds, minutes, hours and days building towards answering word problems.  On Friday the children will have the opportunity to apply their learning in an open ended time investigation.

THEMED LEARNING

This week the children will be taking part in a historical project to find put all about the volcanic eruption in Pompeii. They will use a number of sources to research and make enquiries about what happened, where it is and what effect it had on the landscape and the people. They will be working together in groups to make a presentation to the rest of the class and will need to use and develop their teamwork skills!

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

This week the children will use Espresso to practise writing code which uses random number generation to determine the speed at which an object will move. They will learn to distinguish between times when use of a random number in code is effective and times when it is more appropriate to set a value.  They will also practise writing code which uses random number generation to determine the direction in which an object will move. They will apply and develop their knowledge of angles through consideration of the most appropriate angles to use in their code, in order to achieve their goal.

Thema Blijspel

De afname van de Cito-toetsen is begonnen. Deze week gaan we verder met de toetsen begrijpend lezen en woordenschat.

Y3 en 4 zullen zich deze week verdiepen in hun rol in het zelfgeschreven toneelstuk van Karel en Elegast. Ze krijgen een voorbeeldscript, maar moeten die zelf verder aanpassen, uitbreiden en oefenen.

Y5 en 6 werken verder aan hun rollen in Reynaert de Vos. Ook moeten ze zich verdiepen in het aanbrengen van regieaanwijzingen in het script.

We zoeken ouders die willen helpen met het knutselen van het decor en de rekwisieten voor alle blijspelen (van Pre-Nursery t/m KS3). Stuur een mailtje naar Chris als u kunt helpen:

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Martinez

Next week we will continue looking at parts of the body, and using adjectives to describe them.

Homework this week is to review how to write dates, in numbers, days of the week and months.

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Watson

The students will continue to learn about hobbies. This will lead into talking and asking about preferences. More focus this term will be on the correct pronunciation of the more challenging phonics in Spanish. Homework will be a short paragraph explaining their hobbies.

Unser neues Thema ist „Die Wikinger“. Wir werden uns über das Leben der Wikinger unterhalten und die Kinder werden lernen, treffende Adjektive zu nutzen, um die Personen möglichst genau zu beschreiben. Im Unterricht diese Woche haben die Schüler über die Wikingerzeit gelesen und zu dem Text W-Fragen gesammelt und beantwortet. Zu Hause sollten sie ihre eigenen W-Fragen formulieren, und zwar zum Text „Das Thing“ im Booklet.

Unser neues Thema lautet „Zu Hause“. Die Kinder werden ihren Wortschatz erweitern und üben, treffende Verben zu gebrauchen. Im Unterricht diese Woche haben wir uns erst mal erinnert, wie die Zimmer im Haus, die Möbeln und die typischen Tätigkeiten im Haus heiβen. Zu Hause sollten die Kinder zu einem Text malen, nachdem sie ihn (vor) gelesen haben: „Tim und Pia ganz allein“. Ebenfalls sollten die Kinder ihr Buch weiterlesen und im Lesetigerheft schreiben.
