Week Beginning 26 September 2016

Thank you for all your support with RAG week last week, we received lots of donations for our charity River of Hearts.

MESSAGES

  • Year 4 Football Fun Day - Wednesday 28 September 9.30 – 12.30 – SAS Puxi. Parents welcome to support.
  • We are running the HSK examination on Saturday 12th November 2016. Registration is open to students, parents and friends who have an interest in taking this test. For more information, please kindly refer to the letter.
  • Class Room Parents wanted. If you would to volunteer to be a Class Room Parent then please contact your child’s class teacher.
  • Parent Readers wanted. If you would to volunteer to Parent Reader with children in Year 4 then please contact your child’s class teacher.
  • Homework will be given out on Wednesdays and expected in on Mondays. 
  • Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
  • Please remember to send in and label your child’s snack box and water bottle, as well as a hat during the hot weather.
  • If for any reason your child is unable to take part in PE, please send a signed message in your child’s communication book.  Your child still needs to bring in their PE kit to enable them to participate as a coach, an official or to give feedback.

LITERACY

In literacy this week we will be looking at Information Texts about Electricity. The children will be recognising and finding the features of an information text and discussing what effect they have. The books and information we use is going to be all about Electricity so they will be able to skim and scan the text to find important facts and exciting information that they want to share. They will then use this information to plan and write their own using as many of the features as they can!

MATHS

In Maths this week, we will be looking at estimation and recording results through various methods such as using weights, measuring length and time. The children will also be learning how to use various operations to make an amount and investigating the relationship between these different operations and calculations. We will also be practicing various mental maths skills including multiplication and addition calculations.

THEMED LEARNING

In Humanities, students will research famous inventors and create a presentation using Pic Collage App using dates and historical terms. In Science, we will learn about circuit diagrams and their key components in order to explain observations of working circuits. For Art, children will begin to learn to apply tone in a drawing in a simple way.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DIGITAL LITERACY

The students will continue developing their typing skills using ‘Dance Mat’. We encourage them to also do this at home if they wish. The children will also learn features of the Pic Collage App.

Welkom bij Reisbureau SDS!

De verschillende reisbureaus die op de Reisbeurs van donderdag 29 september a.s. aanwezig zullen zijn, zijn in de afrondende fase van hun werk. Maandag, dinsdag en woensdag werken de leerlingen aan de inrichting van hun kraam. Hulp van ouders (thuis en op school) is hier zeker bij gewenst!

Bij spelling behandelen we deze week de volgende categorieën:

Groep 4: lange en korte klanken, luchtwoord, zingwoord, plankwoord

Groep 5: open en gesloten lettergrepen (introductie)

Groep 6: open en gesloten lettergrepen (verdieping), tropisch-woord, politie-woord

Groep 7: langermaakwoord (-b, -d), sterke werkwoorden in de verleden tijd

Year 3 / 4 Spanish – Ms Martinez

Next week we will continue looking at adjectives and word order.
Homework: to revise the vocabulary for animals and colours.

Year  4 Spanish – Ms Watson

Next week the students will learn parts of the body, being able to say and understand them orally, be able to read and write parts of the body and be able to identify the ‘z’ sound and say a tongue twister with the sound in.

Homework this week is to practise the body song we have been learning in class.

Year  4 French:  Miss Wood

This week we shall be continuing to describe ourselves and our families. We shall review the days of the week and numbers and start to link short phrases together with simple conjunctions. We shall create memory games to reinforce vocabulary.
Homework: To complete a page describing yourself. Relevant vocabulary is included on the sheet. Learn the new words.

Im Deutschunterricht diese Woche haben sich die Schüler näher kennen gelernt, indem sie geübt haben, detaillierte Fragen zu beantworten, schriftlich wie mündlich. Zu Hause sollten die Kinder nun eine kreative Ich-Karte gestalten und dabei den Fragen auf der Kopiervorlage folgen. Zusätzlich können sie natürlich die Karte mit einem Foto und Aufklebern verzieren.

La semana que viene escribiremos sobre nuestra casa, de modo que como deberes, tienen que acabar las breves descripciones de cada habitación de su casa con el vocabulario correspondiente (habitaciones, muebles y objetos).
