Week Beginning 6 March 2017

We look forward  to welcoming the children back on Wednesday 8th March.

MESSAGES

  • Year 5 will be going on an exciting educational visit to the Shanghai Museum and the Shanghai Fabric Making Museum on Wednesday 15 March. This visit is connected with our Themed Learning focus, The Silk Road. We would like up to two parent volunteers from each class to support us on this day. Please let your child’s classroom teacher know, via the communication book, if you would like to volunteer.

LITERACY

This week in Year 5 we will continue with ‘Mystery Stories’ and the children will be up-levelling their work from the previous week. The children will be adding in more ambitious vocabulary and decsriptions to their work. We will finish off the week with reading more examples of mystery stories and  will answer questions about the texts using evidence from what we have read.

MATHS

This week we shall be learning about line graphs. The children will work with continuous data to create line graphs and read information. They will be introduced to other uses of line graphs, such as distance/time graphs and conversion graphs. They will be encouraged to notice the scales and understand why some readings can only be approximate.

THEMED LEARNING

In Themed Learning we will continue with our research about the Scythians. The children will use their research skills to try and answer the questions that they generated last week. The children will also begin their final designs for their hanfu. They will try to incorporate the various water colour techniques that they have been developing and hopefully produce some fantastic final pieces. These will be on display at our fashion show during the end of term showcase.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

We will be continuing our work on Blogging this week by setting up our own  site for our Silk Road themed blog. These will not be live except to us and we need to start planning the layout, considering  titles and photos. We will then begin to enter our first blog entitled “The Silk Road Entry Day”, learning how to save our work carefully.

PSHCE

This week the children will be focusing on learning targets. The children will discuss and share their next steps for their learning, thinking about what they would like to improve. They will try to think of targets that are easily measured and what evidence they can show to prove they have met their target. We are looking forward to hearing the children’s thoughts and next steps.

Students will be continue to learn how to tell the time in order to discuss the activities they do in their spare time. They are learning how to discuss the day and time they go to the movies, go shopping or play football.

Lebhaft ging es im Unterricht diese Woche zu, denn wir haben Rollenspiele „Auf dem Wikingermarkt“ gespielt und dabei die Vokabeln gelernt und wiederholt.
Zu Hause sollen die Kinder das Rollenspiel vorlesen und vorspielen üben (im Booklet S. 79). Und natürlich ihr Lesetigerbuch nicht vergessen.

La semana que viene trabajaremos la comprensión lectora y los cuantificadores numerales e indefinidos. Como deberes, deben revisar las normas de acentuación en las palabras agudas, llanas y esdrújulas.

DUTCH

Afronding Blijspel

We blikken terug op een fantastisch show en ronden het thema Blijspel af. De leerlingen van Y3 t/m 6 werken deze week aan een gezamenlijke klassendisplay over hun show. Ze werken aan een karakterbeschrijving en een pakkende samenvatting van het gespeelde verhaal, zonder het einde te verklappen (een zogenaamde ‘blurb’ of achterflaptekst). Ook schrijft elke leerling een evaluatie aan de hand van een vooraf opgestelde controlelijst.

We streven ernaar u deze week de Cito-resultaten mee te kunnen geven.
