A Modern School

When I arrived in China in 1989 there were only a few international schools in Shanghai. That was a long time ago and a lot has changed, but I am happy that our son Daniel attends BISS Puxi, one of the most modern international schools in Shanghai just a stone’s throw away from our home.

"The school provides education according to the National Curriculum of England placing particular emphasis on additional languages. I like that he is given the opportunity to study Chinese and to participate in Chinese Proficiency Tests (YCT and HSK) as well as to study German within the complimentary ECA activities.

The communication from the school is excellent for example they keep us informed about details of our son’s homework by delivering a daily summary by email.

We’re also very pleased that the school is continuously expanding its swimming activities and we’re proud that Daniel is part of the schools’ swim team and competes as part of the BISS Lions in swimming competitions across China and abroad.

He has also made a good start in his (I)GCSEs and is on the track for the IB Diploma. He even has the chance at BISS Puxi to also include his native German language as one of the subjects for the Diploma which we’re really happy about."

A special 'Thank you' to Michael Tafelski, father of Daniel in Year 9, for providing this short article.
