    Samantha Rae

    Deputy Head of Primary School

    Samantha Rae

    Samantha studied at DeMontfort University, gaining a Bachelor of Education, specialising in English and Physical Education. She started her career in a large primary school in Warwickshire, teaching all year groups in Key Stage 2 and becoming an Advanced Mathematics teacher for the county.

    Joseph Westwood

    Head of Data and Tracking

    Joseph Westwood

    Joseph studied for five years at the University of Birmingham. His first degree in Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics enabled him to develop as a mathematician whilst allowing him to understand more about our existence within the universe. He continued to enhance his understanding of the modern world by completing an MSc. in The Physics and Technology of Nuclear Reactors. His final year was spent on a PGCE course where he began to learn how to teach mathematics.

  • Fiona McConnon

    Head of Global Languages

    Fiona McConnon

    Fiona McConnon graduated from University College London (UCL) with an honours degree in French and from York University with a PGCE in French and sport. She subsequently taught English at a University in Lanzhou with Voluntary Service Overseas for two years, where she became fascinated by Mandarin. This led to her spending five years mainly in Beijing as a British Council – Chinese government scholar at the Beijing Languages Institute, completing a Masters in the Teaching of Chinese as a Foreign Language.

    As Head of Languages at an International School in Beijing, she used western language learning methodologies in her Mandarin teaching to foster enjoyment and confidence in her students.  She more recently headed up the MFL and Classics Faculty in an outstanding school in north London, Northwood College, which excelled in developing deeper thinking in students.

    She has held a number of management roles at the British Embassy and in UK-based charities involved in work related to China and has completed an MSc in Development Management with the Open University.

    Paul Kelly

    Paul completed a BEd in PE and Science in 1997 and went straight into teaching, working in a number of schools in the South East of England. In 2002 he took up the role of Head of PE at St Christopher School in Hertfordshire where he stayed for 10 years holding down a number of additional roles such as House Master, trip coordinator and Head of the Teaching and Learning Committee.

    Nicholas Rickford

    Nick studied History at the University of Edinburgh, but spent much of his free time conducting walking tours of the ancient city during the day and scaring unsuspecting tourists whilst working as a ghost tour guide under the cover of darkness. After graduation he spent several years working in the corporate events industry, designing and running conferences for senior public servants and leaders of global communications companies.

    Andy Joy

    Andrew graduated from the University of Keele with a degree in Philosophy and Politics which he followed by taking the Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Nottingham University, specialising in Mathematics. He started his teaching career as a VSO volunteer in Papua New Guinea which was followed by a spell as a Mathematics teacher in a school in Ealing, West London.

    Liz has worked in teaching for over ten years where she has concentrated on developing her expertise and passion for early years education. Following this she went onto complete a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) specialising in Early Years, at Homerton College, University of Cambridge.

    Elizabeth Westwood

    Elizabeth read Theology as an undergraduate at Westminster College, Oxford before undertaking her PGCE at the University of Birmingham.  She worked in Central and Northern England teaching Religious Studies and Philosophy before undertaking a Master’s Degree in the Psychology of Education at the University of Bristol.

    Alexandra Martinez

    For the last eleven years Alex has worked as both Year 3 and Year 4 teacher at King’s College Madrid.  For the past five years she has also been Lower Key stage 2 Coordinator.  Besides being a class teacher, she has also held other posts of responsibility, such as Humanities Coordinator and English Coordinator in Primary, Primary School Representative for Extra-Curricular Activities, and House Parent in the Boarding school.
