Jared Nolan

Head of Primary

Jared qualified with a BSc in Psychology in 2003 from the Open University, UK and a PGCE from the University of Gloucestershire, UK in 2006. He was awarded the UK’s National Professional Qualification for Headship in 2012 and is currently completing his MA in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of South Wales, UK.

Jared started his career as a Police Officer in the UK, specialising in the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and receiving a Chief Constable’s Commendation for his ‘professionalism and dedication to duty’. His training, experience and aptitude in this field ignited his interest in child development and in education, leading to his move into school leadership. During his teaching career, Jared has led two very successful Primary Schools in Wales, UK, and has also qualified as a School Inspector for the Welsh Government.

Jared was an international at Rugby and Basketball for Wales to Under 21 Level before playing semi-professional rugby in Wales. After his body persuaded him to stop playing, he went on to coach Newport Schools U11 and The Dragons U16 rugby teams. Being an outdoor enthusiast, Jared has become a keen cyclist, a very amateur racer and has developed a passion for the mountains.

He is joined in BISS Puxi by his wife Emma who also shares his passion for travel and adventure. Their grown-up children are remaining in the UK but are looking forward to visiting Shanghai as a base from which to explore Asia.
