Philippa Bourne

Philippa Bourne

Year 2 Class Teacher

Pippa hails from Chelmsford in the South-East of England and resides in nearby Colchester – the oldest town in Great Britain. Pippa attained a Bachelor of Science, undertaking one year of her linguistics and psychology studies at the University of Alberta in Canada. She also achieved a Master’s degree in International Business at the University of Birmingham, UK, which included an internship through a private university in Brazil. There, Pippa visited a school for disadvantaged children and her eyes were opened to the pleasures and power of education. She graduated from Durham University in 2011 with a PGCE in Primary Education and immediately travelled to Lesotho, where she volunteered at a teaching college to share the benefits of her UK training with local trainees.

Since then, Pippa has taught most primary age groups and most recently worked in Year 6. She subscribes to the adage that ‘all we are in life is the sum of our experiences’ and that therefore, the broader the experiences that learners are given, the more they will become! She relishes the variety of subjects at primary level and particularly enjoys maths, music (the flute is her preferred instrument) and exciting class science experiments. When not working, Pippa can often be found out on her bike, curled up with a book, in the gym or baking novelty cakes for special occasions.
