Staff Profile: Matthew Watson

Matthew Watson

Year 3 Class Teacher

Matt worked for a number of years in finance before taking the decision to enter the world of education. After gaining his qualifications to teach English as a second language, Matt taught teenagers and young adults in Dublin, Dubai, Oxfordshire and Penang (Malaysia) before opting to work with younger children.

While in Malaysia, he completed his International Postgraduate Certificate in Education through Sunderland University and has subsequently been a Primary Classroom Teacher in London and Qatar.

Now in his 5th year as a key stage 2 teacher, Matt has taught children from close to 80 different countries and is experienced in helping children of all abilities to access and enjoy their learning.

Having lived in so many different parts of the world, it will come as no surprise to learn that Matt loves to travel. Together with his wife, Sally, he has visited more than 20 different countries in the past 5 years. They both love to immerse themselves in the local culture through meeting the people, sampling the food, joining in with festivals and enjoying the art.

In his hobbies, Matt is more cerebral than physical: he enjoys playing a game of chess or cards and completing crosswords and logic puzzles. When it comes to sport, Matt is more of an armchair enthusiast and loves watching international cricket and rugby and is a huge Manchester City fan. That being said, he does like the odd game of tennis and tries to keep himself fit at the gym.
