Daniel had the urge to experience life in a large metropolis, and subsequently took up a teaching post in inner-city East London. Over the course of 6 years, he moved from being an NQT to holding various positions of responsibility, including Year Group Leader roles and co-ordinator for the subjects of Science, History and Geography. This role enabled Daniel to work with students from a range of backgrounds, and he furthered this experience by taking up a post in Bangkok, in a leading bilingual school in the city centre. Daniel is now looking forward to joining the BISS Puxi team and helping to shape the lives of the students here in Shanghai.
Daniel has taught students across the full range of Primary School over his career, and prides himself on the positive relationships which he is able to build and maintain with the students under his care. One of his favourite parts of the job is that ‘Eureka’ moment when a child grasps a particular concept, and seeing the pride which pupils take in their learning.
Daniel has a keen interest in watching and playing sports, and enjoys spending time out of school doing these, particularly football, tennis, badminton and cricket. Unfortunately, the teams he has chosen to follow are usually unsuccessful! Daniel has also coached school football teams with varying degrees of success. He enjoys reading books about various parts of the world (giving him thoughts about visiting these often far-flung countries); as well as listening to and discovering new music to add to his collection.
Daniel is looking forward to immersing himself into a new city and culture, and is hopeful of mastering enough Mandarin to hold at least a basic conversation over his time in Shanghai!
