Oliver Bone

Oliver Bone

Year 6 Class Teacher

Oliver graduated in 2009 with a BA (Hons) degree in History from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK and followed this with a PGCE in Primary Education from the University of Manchester, UK in 2011. Following this, Oliver taught for three years one of the largest primary schools in Manchester, before teaching internationally in both Thailand and South Korea for the past 3 years.

Working at the ‘First Thinking School in Asia’, allowed Oliver to develop additional strategies to help the children reflect upon their thinking and analyse the ways in which they learn and this is something which he tries to incorporate into his daily practice.

Oliver has also held a range of leadership roles including Key Stage 2 leader, Year Group Leader and Computing Co-Ordinator, these roles allowed him to gain additional leadership experience and the opportunities to lead whole school initiatives. Oliver believes in creating a classroom environment where the children are encouraged to create positive open dialogue and take ownership of their learning to great success.

Outside of the classroom, Oliver is a keen footballer who enjoys both watching and playing, he closely follows Manchester United and often attends matches when back in the UK. Aside from this he enjoys exploring new places and undertaking new experiences wherever he can find them. Oliver hopes that he can spend some time in Shanghai learning enough Mandarin to hold a simple conversation. He is looking forward to experiencing all that Shanghai has to offer and is excited about joining a leading school where he can develop and contribute as part of an outstanding team.
