Jennifer Hopwood

Jennifer Hopwood

Teacher of English & Drama

Jennifer gained a 2.1 degree with honours at the University of Nottingham, graduating in the summer of 2011. Inspired to become a teacher, Jennifer travelled to work in China as an English teacher and during this time, she realised how much she enjoyed working with young people. On returning to England, Jennifer undertook a Postgraduate Diploma in Education at the University of Birmingham and secured her first teaching post at a school in Sutton Coldfield, UK. Jennifer has held different roles within this school, from Assistant Head of House to PGCE mentor and is always looking for new challenges to help shape her own teaching practice.

Jennifer believes that all children should have equal access to learning and ensures that her teaching meets the needs of every student in her classroom. She is always seeking new ways to model, differentiate and scaffold learning so that her students can make excellent progress and believes that lessons need to be engaging in order for children to nurture their passion for the subject. It is this desire for learning and the opportunity to work in an exciting and vibrant school that has brought Jennifer to Shanghai.

Jennifer loves the outdoors and has been helping to run the Duke of Edinburgh Award for the last 3 years. She has her Basic Expedition Leader training and is always looking to get out and explore the world.
