Staff Profile: Eimear Reen

Eimear Reen

Science Teacher

Eimear graduated from University College Cork in Ireland in 2013 after studying science education with a major in Chemistry. Eimear has been working in an academy in North London teaching GSCE science and A level Chemistry for the last two years. Her enthusiasm for enabling young people to think and work both independently and collaboratively means that her students are always engaged with their learning.

The move to BISS Puxi is one to fulfil a dream of teaching abroad and to experience a new and different set of young people, and after spending last summer travelling Southeast Asia, decided China would be a good fit. She has always enjoyed living and working abroad and spent time living in Edinburgh and also spent time working as a butcher and in an aquarium in San Francisco.

Eimear enjoys reading and listening to and playing music. Eimear is a massive Cork supporter and loves keeping up to date with the “Irish” sports such as Gaelic football and hurling. She also enjoys spending an afternoon on the golf course, but hates golfing in the rain. Eimear is a keen traveller and has spent much time exploring new places and getting to know different cultures. She loves the opportunities and experiences that travelling presents and has embraced experiences such as hiking and mountain climbing, getting lost, attempting to learn various languages, trying new foods and much more.
