This Tuesday featured the DCIS Secondary School Parent Curriculum Evening with guidance and information presented to parents as we embark on the new academic year journey

On Tuesday 5th September, Mrs. Rinaldi led the Secondary School Curriculum Evening. The session gave an overview of highlights from 2016-17 including the successful accreditation of the IB Diploma Programme, the impressive increase in sports provision in the Secondary School and the amazing range of international trips that took place last year.

The session went on to outline the high expectation and high challenge that is at the heart of the DCIS culture and to discuss the pathways for each student in Years 7- 13. Our IB coordinator, Mr. O’Shea, also gave some more specific information on the philsophy and approach of the IB Diploma Programme at DCIS.

Ms Harvey, Head of EAL, provided an overview of our secondary EAL programme, including our exciting new programme entitled 'Eyes Open' in Pathway 2 and Mr. Townsend, Pathway 3 Leader, outlined the range of qualifications that we offer to Pathway 3 students.

The pastoral systems, including Progress Leaders and Form Tutors, were outlined by Mrs. Hyland, Deputy Head of Secondary, in order to further evidence our culture of high expectation and high challenge and how this is supported by our outstanding teachers.

The session closed with a look forward to some of the exciting highlights to come in 2017-2018, including continued development of sport, performing arts, trips and visits, as well as the launch of the International Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award, the IB Diploma and the Head Boy and Head Girl positions.

Please see the linked PowerPoint presentation from the evening below, which gives further details regarding our curriculum in Years 7-13.
