During the Upper Primary Assembly, students in Years 3 – 6 learned how to stay safe online and became Internet Legends!
In our ever-changing world, it is becoming increasingly important that our children know how to keep themselves safe when using the internet including when using it for homework, to play games or on social media.
We learned the 4 rules to become Internet Legends;
We looked at different examples of these from real life including how quickly a photo can be shared, how to choose strong passwords to protect our personal information, making sure we check how valid a website or claim is and how to be kind to others when using online platforms.
We discussed the importance of telling an adult if we see something that makes us uncomfortable or unsure including a mean or nasty comment or an email or message from someone we don’t know. The children understood that it was important not to respond to these types of messages and that reporting them to the website and telling an adult is always the best course of action. The children were tasked at the end of the assembly with the Legends Challenge which was to pass on a top tip from the assembly to someone at home to ensure that everyone is always being safe online. The assembly will be followed up in class in PSHCE lessons over the course of the term.
