On 31st January, Year 10 Mandarin IGCSE and Secondary EAL students visited the Singapore Kung Fu Centre and Chinatown.

This trip was in conjunction with Chinese language and cultural diversity understanding and learning. During the trip, students learned some basic Kung Fu techniques with Gold medalist Kung Fu master Mr. Leroy Kwok and instructor Miss Veron Lau. Some students also spoke in Mandarin while buying traditional Chinese New Year goodies in Chinatown.

We are looking forward to seeing students performing a Kung Fu demonstration alongside the famous Singaporean Kung Fu master during the secondary assembly on 9th February.

Here are some of the students’ reflections:

'The trip to Chinatown was a great experience for me as we got to buy Chinese decorations for both our homes and school. Overall, I thought that it was nice that we had a change of scenery outside of school!' - Thomas

'We went to Chinatown. It was so big and we learned Kung Fu and I felt its tradition. I would like to go there again.' - Misheel

'We went to Chinatown to taste the Chinese food and we also learned a lot of things about Kung Fu.' - Okada

'We went to Chinatown and it was a very good learning experience for me. The lunch in the hawker center was delicious!' - Kamimura

'It was really a good experience; it was my first time in Chinatown and I really enjoyed the Kung Fu class.' - Farah
