Our Learning Journey

What a fantastic Nativity Party performance. The children looked and sounded amazing on the stage. We’ve not stopped singing the songs all week! The children have worked so hard to learn all of their parts and the show was brilliant. Thank you to KS1, KS2 and to our parents for being such a wonderful audience at our Nativity.

It was lovely to end our busy week with our trip to watch Santa’s Little Helper. For many of the children it was their first school trip so it was an extra exciting event for them. Some children said their favourite part was when Albert found the dog Scruffy and when Mr. Cairns was the Christmas tree on the stage!  We also loved the part when Frosty the Snowman had a snowball fight with us. The children represented Dover Court International School very well - your teachers are very proud.

Mandarin

Reception continued the topic on antonyms. They learned how to say and compare more and less in quantity terms. They engaged in various hands-on and Kagan activities to apply their learning. Additionally, they continued to learn a Christmas song (Mandarin version). Please follow this link to practise at home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P17dZzHkTVg

Physical Education

This week in PE, the children have been enjoying some Christmas yoga in their house teams and learning to extend body parts ready for our gymnastic lessons in term two. This week in Swimming, the children have been learning to work together on rafts and gain water confidence with fun games.

Music

Thank you to Mr Fernandez for helping us with our fantastic Christmas show. Due to the Christmas performances, Music specialists did not take place this week. The children enjoyed learning Christmas carols and songs in class with their teacher.

Continuing Our Learning Journey at Home

We have been learning about how some families are celebrating Christmas in December. For show and tell next week, we would love to hear about the different festivities your family celebrate throughout the year. This could be an occasion such as a birthday or a special day such as Valentine's day or a religious celebration such as Deepavali or Chinese New Year.

You could draw or paint a picture of how you celebrate or send in some photos of past events. Some children may want to try writing some words or a short sentence.
