Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,

Today, as part of World Children's Day, we took part in a global project designed to create a message to be taken to the UN. The project entitled 'Chain Reaction' involved Nord Anglia Education schools across the globe creating a chain reaction of questions and answers addressing some key Sustainable Goals issues. The chain reaction was initiated on Twitter and can be followed here.

This week we will be launching our parent portal, this is the first step towards paperless communication here at DCIS. Over the coming year, we plan to extend the use of the portal so that it becomes a hub for our community. Do look out for the launch email which will be sent out over the coming days.

Best regards,

Mr. Christopher Short
Principal

Lunch Service: Sodexo

As previously communicated the main cafeteria is not accepting cash payments, but the DCIS Café will continue to accept cash. Although, the cash facility in the DCIS Café is really designed to accommodate parents for occasional use, we recommend that all students are signed up for a Campus Online account. This limits cash on site and allows parents to track purchases that students make during the day through their Campus Online accounts. You can access the Campus Online page at this link.

  • Creative Writing Competition Deadline - Friday 24th November

WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY

  • To mark World Children's Day, which is also the 25th anniversary of the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child, UNICEF and the UN have planned a series of activities for young people to unite and tell the world what needs to be done to address some of the biggest issues facing children. We have been invited to take part in a Global ‘Chain Reaction’ dialogue along with all of the Nord Anglia Education schools.
    • A question will be asked of our school by a school in another region
    • Our school will answer the question via a 1 minute video, which will end by asking a question of schools in the next region
    • Our school will post our video to Twitter
    • AND the chain reaction will end on the morning of November 20th in New York in time for schools in the Americas to present the questions and answers to the UN!
  • Class teachers will be encouraging their students to continue to understand and access their rights as children.

GLOBAL CHALLENGE

  • The focus of the 2017/18 Global Challenge are the following Global Goals:
    • Goal 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities
    • Goal 12, Responsible Consumption and Production
  • At Dover Court, we would like students to start thinking about these goals and if they have any initial thoughts, ideas and suggestions, then please speak to Jack Odey (Primary) or Erin Burk (Secondary).
  • More information regarding the Global Challenge will follow soon.
