Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,

We successfully completed a ‘lockdown’ drill this morning. The children did a brilliant job of keeping absolutely quiet and out of sight as we practised what to do in the unlikely event of an intruder on the site. There was an eery hush across the campus as we checked that all areas were secure before giving the all clear, all we could hear was the birds chirping in the trees. We always run these drills with great care ensuring the children, especially the younger ones, understand why we practice and do not become overly alarmed. We will do another one later in the year so that, like for fire drills, the children and staff are comfortable with our response and know what to do.

On the note of security I am pleased to see so many parents wearing our new photo ID passes. If you haven’t collected them or haven’t applied for them please do so as soon as possible. From January will ask all parents to have the correct ID to enter the site. In the meantime we will continue to ask parents if they don’t have ID so please don’t be offended if you are asked – I’m sure all members of the DCIS community know why we are asking.

As we continue to develop our community relationships Mr. Kinsella and Mr. Whisby visited the Microsoft offices in Marina Bay to forge links with staff from local and international Singapore schools, view new Virtual Reality equipment and learn about the new educational software and technologies being developed by the company.

We hope you have an enjoyable week.

Mr. Christopher Short
Principal

Lunch Service: Sodexo

As previously communicated the main cafeteria is not accepting cash payments, but the DCIS Café will continue to accept cash. Although, the cash facility in the DCIS Café is really designed to accommodate parents for occasional use, we recommend that all students are signed up for a Campus Online account. This limits cash on site and allows parents to track purchases that students make during the day through their Campus Online accounts. You can access the Campus Online page at this link.
