We moved to Singapore ten years ago from Sydney and we have been at DCIS for a year and a half. Our eldest child is in Year 3 and middle child in Reception, whilst our youngest (just two) isn’t yet ready for school.
We toured three other schools first, but DCIS really stood out to us as a place with the right feel that we were looking for. It has great facilities without being overwhelming for the kids. During our school tour we also enjoyed meeting the teachers and felt like it was the perfect fit for us. Overall, for both our children, we love the teachers, the location and the community vibe.
The parent community is very caring and supportive and we like the numerous events and activities they hold to involve each and every family. For example they had a wonderful picnic in September and a marvellous Halloween event that involved all the parents and children. We are also very impressed with the parent workshops offered by the school.
We think DCIS is a standout school when it comes to Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs). With the bus schedule enabling all students to access ECAs (unlike other schools where parents have to pick up after ECAs) it really does make this after-school programme accessible to all. This is especially important for families with two parents working like ours.
We have been really happy with DCIS (and recommended it to lots of our friends), as it is not only a small school with a really lovely teacher and parent community, it is a school that makes features like ECAs easy for all students to participate in. We also feel it is one of the best value education options available in Singapore.
