As a Secondary school student, Heather always had a love for the subjects of French and History. While attending the University of Warwick, it was no great surprise that she chose to study these two disciplines. As part of her degree, she spent a year working near Lyon, in central France. It was during this year that she first taught at a secondary school in St. Etienne and realised that teaching was her calling.
Having completed her degree, Heather trained with the Teach First programme and was placed in a secondary school in Liverpool. She spent six years teaching French from Year 7 to Year 13 and relished the challenge of teaching all age groups and abilities. It was there that she really honed her teaching, whilst also completing a Masters in Education and Leadership at the University of Manchester, specialising in cooperative learning. She also became whole-school Communications Strategic Lead, charged with a range of whole-school issues, including coordinating literacy and numeracy across the curriculum.
After six wonderful years in Liverpool, Heather decided to broaden her horizons and made the decision to work abroad. She chose Singapore due to its reputation for its outstanding education system and Dover Court seemed like the perfect fit, due to its inclusivity and ambition in building great futures for its students. She was thrilled to be hired at Dover Court, and thoroughly enjoyed her first year in the Secondary School, teaching French and History. She is now excited to undertake the role of Deputy Head of Secondary, ensuring that we provide the highest quality learning and global opportunities to our Secondary students during their time at Dover Court International School.
