Staff Profile: Nikoletta Mappouridou

Nikoletta Mappouridou

Part-time Speech and Language Therapist

Originally from Cyprus, Nikoletta graduated from the University of Patra, Greece, with a Bachelors degree in Speech and Language Therapy.

Nikoletta has been in Speech and Language Therapy for nine years, beginning with three years running her own therapy center in Cyprus. Prior to joining Dover Court International School, she worked for three years in a private centre in Singapore.

As a speech and language pathologist, she sees children with a variety of communication disorders, including those with articulation disorders, delayed receptive and expressive language development. She has a special interest and extensive experience in working with children with autism spectrum disorder, with childhood apraxia of speech, and a great interest in children with Down syndrome.

Nikoletta believes in a multidisciplinary approach and she works closely with teachers, psychologists, occupational therapists, as well as parents. She keeps abreast with all the updates in the field, by following up seminars and attending approved courses like PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets), The Lidcombe Therapy Program (for stuttering), SOS approach to feeding, DIR Floortime, Hanen ‘It takes two to talk’, PECS ( Picture Exchange Communication System) and Oral Placement Therapy.

Her decision to join Dover Court International School was not difficult to make. As a professional therapist her requirements were to work in a professional environment with proper facilities and skilled personnel, such as experienced teachers. Dover Court fulfills all her requirements.

Other than being a speech therapist, she also enjoys travelling, cooking and gardening.
