Staff Profile: Claire Garvey

Claire Garvey

Reception Class Teacher (RCG)

Claire graduated from Salford University with a BA Hons in Geography and completed a PGCE in primary teaching in Keele University.

Claire is in her twentieth year of teaching and is looking forward to working at Dover Court.  Originally from England, she has taught across the primary age range.  For the first fifteen years Claire taught at St Chad’s CE Primary school. During this time she gained valuable experience of being a member of the Senior Management Team, co-ordinating KS1 and the Early Years Department.  She was also given the opportunity to gain a further qualification in Early Years Numeracy.

For the past four years Claire has been a Reception Teacher working at Repton School, Dubai.  Apart from being the Stingray class teacher she was given the role to develop the numeracy curriculum across the Early Years Department, with a particular focus on mental maths.  Claire was also responsible for planning the literacy curriculum and the Read, Write, Inc. phonics programme.

Due to a family relocation Claire has recently made the move to Singapore with her husband and three children.  She is looking forward to experiencing the opportunities that Dover Court and the region has to offer.
