Tess is proud to share that she has been teaching in special education for fourteen years now. Prior to coming to Singapore she was a special educator in the Philippines for four years. She also has experience working with infants, toddlers, teenagers and adults with special and exceptional needs.
Following her graduation, Maritess worked as a human resource practitioner handling recruitment, employee relations and training and development. In 1999 she decided to join the educational setting and worked as a college guidance counsellor and lecturer of psychology. This was also the year she was introduced to the exciting world of special education. In 2001, she began teaching children with special needs. She teaches academic subjects, social skills, life skills, behaviour modification and provides support and accommodations in the classroom.
Maritess was born and raised in Las Pinas City, Philippines.
She moved to Singapore eleven years ago and since then has considered this country her second home. She was born into a family of educators who instilled into her a love of learning. The core of her teaching philosophy stems from her love of children, regardless of their differences. Tess believes in developing a relationship with her students based on respect, fun and a want to succeed.
