Emilie's teaching career began in Ireland and a desire for challenge and to broaden her experience led her to look further afield. She arrived in Singapore in 2013, first teaching Humanities in a local school before having the opportunity to join the wonderful school community at Dover Court. She was attracted to this school because of its emphasis on the importance of every student that enters its doors and the focus on quality teaching and learning.
She has worked in Ireland and London, in public and private Planning, as well as freelancing. While working on community projects and with schools in London, she came to realize her true passion was working with students. She returned to University to complete her PDip.Ed and have never looked back. She has been fortunate to have gained a broad range of experience in mainstream, learning support and further education environments. She enjoys new challenges and roles, in particular supporting students in projects that develop their leadership, performance, communication and athletics skills. She believes in discovery based learning - to develop students’ thinking, reflection and communication skills, to enable them to become passionate, independent life-long learners.
She is passionate about health and wellbeing, previously acting in Health Ambassador and Welfare Officer roles. She enjoys keeping fit by playing tennis, running, yoga and joining the staff for cross-fit at Dover Court. She is fortunate to have joined a team of like-minded colleagues. In her free time she enjoys cooking, and have completed introductory courses at Darina Allen’s famous Ballymaloe Cookery School. While travelling she also completed a Vietnamese and Thai cooking course.
She loves living in Singapore and the professional, travel and adventure opportunities available here. This year she hopes to complete her first half marathon.
