Mr Christopher Short Weekly Update 2nd October

We welcomed a visiting group of US universities to BIS this week where they gave presentations to our Year 12 and 13 students. I mentioned at the start of term that we had 16 universities scheduled to visit us. This number has already more than doubled and is set to grow even further as more and more universities request a visit to meet our students. There are some extremely competitive universities amongst these visitors and it is heartening that they make these requests after hearing how our high quality curriculum delivered by expert teachers is developing some outstanding students.

We celebrated the World’s Largest Lesson this week which focused on the new UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development. The Geography Department organised lessons for staff to deliver as part of our Life Skills programme and other lessons in subjects. The World has developed a great deal since the Millennium Goals set in 2000 but there is more to do and it was great to see this generation of young people learning about goals that will hopefully be meet as they become young adults.
