Mr Christopher Short Weekly Update 11.12.2015

I am repeating myself from a previous newsletter but I always laugh at this time of year when my (non-teaching) friends comment that we must be winding down about now for the holiday. Nothing could be further from the truth, the last few weeks of term are always packed with activities both inside and outside the classroom. We have had and will have Regional House Competitions, Concerts, Auditions, Sporting Events, Parents Evenings, Expeditions, Charity activities as well as a multitude of stimulating lessons. Year 11, 12 and 13 have mock examinations straight after the holiday so they busy preparing for those.

We welcomed 2 colleagues from IB schools in Hong Kong and Malaysia this week. They were here to verify our application to be an IB World School and spent 3 days speaking to students, staff and parents about the preparations we have made ready for our planned move to the IB Diploma Programme. Their report now goes back to the IB regional office for ratification and we will receive official notification in the new year.

Mr Airdrie led a group of students on their Silver DoEIA practice expedition last weekend. Kurt Hanh, the founder of the DoE Award, would have recognised the weather as more north of Scotland than South East Asia but the staff and students showed great perseverance in completed the long walk over 3 days. They are now well on their way to completing their Silver award, one of the very few in Vietnam.
