Secondary Physical Education

It is recommended that people need to have 60 minutes of moderate to intensive activity each day. Physical activity, Sport and Physical Education can improve cognitive and educational performance of students at school as well as aiding physiological, skill and social development.

Secondary PE at BIS has developed over the last year and most students look forward to their weekly lessons. In secondary, students will have two core PE lessons weekly. The IGCSE students have 3 theory lessons and 1 practical lesson a week.
Secondary PE has focused during the year in using technology in the classroom. Students have PE Google classroom access, where feedback is given to the students. Students also have the opportunity to extend their PE knowledge and understanding by doing the extended questions and or videos on their class sites. Students have the chance to see themselves with instant feedback using various devices during lessons.

Students are taught various sporting and health related activities throughout the year. The department is very excited in introducing trampolining in the gymnastics unit and extending the health related fitness unit with the new gym equipment. In Key stage 4 and 5 students have the chance to select their activities during the year. Options of being more team sport or individual sports development; Swimming, and Racket activities are selected in the beginning of the year. In Key stage 5 the focus is on giving students various ways in being active and healthy in future. Students have the opportunity to explore various roles in the sporting community by learning the role of the coach and the official.

Have an active weekend.
