What a wonderful week this has been for us at BIS Hanoi. We have maintained excellent teaching and learning throughout but enhanced the week with some outstanding events. On Tuesday, the Secondary students arrived in school to be faced with a very stern Principal and Head of Secondary and then told, in no uncertain terms, to go to the Auditorium as
was taking place. SHAM (Science, History, Art and Maths) was composed of some very evil people who had brainwashed and kidnapped the children’s teachers. The only way that the teachers could be released was if BIS Students satisfactorily completed tasks in SHAM. Therefore, it turned out to be a day filled with great activities and tasks in these subjects with the students working in House teams. Congratulations to the winning house, Hanoi, and to all the students for getting the teachers released from SHAM. A big ‘Thank you’ to all the teachers involved with the event particularly Ms. Orchard, Mr. O’Reilly, Ms. Cargill and Mr. Airdrie who were, in fact, SHAM!
On Wednesday, it was a pleasure to see Year 6 experience their transition day in Secondary. This is an important part of their development as they learn more about life as a Secondary student. The other Primary classes also had the opportunity, on Wednesday, to meet their teacher for next year.
Maths was the main theme on Thursday with Primary experiencing ‘
Primary Maths Day
’ when students arrived in school to see the Principal’s car ‘vandalised’ by some unknown person. It was the task of the Primary students to solve the mystery. In Secondary it was once again time for ‘Sprint Maths’, which is the second year we have run this popular event.
Today, the Primary Summer Concert was held and what wonderful performances were given by our younger children. In the evening, once again, the Secondary School have the excitement of ‘
A Night under the Stars
’ – the highly anticipated annual school prom.
What a great week and I hope that you all have a most pleasant weekend.
