Dear Parents,

Last night, I was very proud to be in the audience for the BIS Winter Showcase. The variety and quality of acts was outstanding and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. From amazing chamber choirs to contemporary dance; lively rock music to creative drumming with luminous sticks: the show was truly entertaining. Although the performers were mainly from our secondary department, I feel that I must highlight some of our primary stars.

Solo performers included Binh Minh, from Year 5, on the guitar and Hazuki, Year 6, on the piano. Then, it was the turn of our youngest performer from Year 2, Jae Eun, who very bravely marched onto the stage to perform a violin solo and received a well-deserved rapturous applause from the audience. A clarinet and piano duet from Hannah and Emily; a guitar ensemble from children aged 7 to 11 years and a piano and violin duet from Phuong Anh and Linh Lan were amongst many other instrumental acts showcasing the variety of instruments our children are mastering. Many of our primary children also made the whole school orchestra which performed Land of Hope and Glory, providing a British patriotic feel to our evening.

A festive ending to our evening with a medley of well-known Christmas songs left the audience wanting more last night. Our next festive event, ‘A Caroling We Go!’ will be performed by our youngest BIS children, in the Early Years Centre. This will be held at 9am on 14th December in the multi-purpose room and all parents are welcome.
