Ms Sue Hill Weekly Update 5.2.2016

Dear Parents,

Last week we became even better global citizens and used our skills of enquiry to find out about different cultures and countries of the world. This week has been devoted to our host country, Vietnam as we have been finding out more about the Tet festival.
In addition, Year 2 has been exploring Hanoi this week and went on two trips: one to the St Joseph’s area to visit travel agents and the other to Hoan Kiem Lake, using different forms of transport. Both of these activities linked with their unit of work on writing information texts and encouraged the development of their enquiry skills. Enquiry will be our Primary area of focus from our Aide Memoire after the Tet holidays.

This morning, the whole school assembled in the auditorium for a wonderful, colourful Tet celebration through the medium of song and dance. The audience was taken through a journey looking at Tet from a Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese perspective. The elegant fan dancing, rousing drum ensemble, energetic Japanese fishermen’s’ dance, tuneful Korean folk song and fun, lively Vietnamese performances from F3, Year 1 and Year 4 left us feeling in the mood for our Tet holidays.

Thank you to all those families who have sent in shoeboxes and donations of clothes and rice. Remember, will we still accept donations during the first week back after Tet. I wish everyone a wonderful holiday with their families and I look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday 15th February. Chuc Mung Nam Moi!
