Dear Parents,

Science Week

This has been a week full of awe and wonder in the Primary School as science fever gripped our students and staff. Amazing investigations took place where children were hypothesizing, testing their theories and continually challenging their ideas.

In Year 6, the children became a team of forensic scientists who were trying to solve a crime.

Year 5 joined together to put their knowledge of forces into practice and perfect an enormous Rube Goldberg machine; Electrical circuits powered by potatoes and the conductivity of salty dough were investigated in Year 4 and building different structures, including the Long Bien Bridge was the theme for Year 3.

In the EYC, our youngest scientists were at hard at work too! Ms Karissa’s class looked carefully at plants whilst floating and sinking was the topic for Ms. Cheska’s class. Year 2 investigated homes for ants and bees; F3 built homes for bears and Year 1 children were looking at outer space.

Today, it was great to see so many parents joining their children for the Science Fair. Children had the chance to wander around other classrooms and find out more about other areas of science.

Thank you, Mr. Wild for planning such an amazing Science Week! I look forward to seeing the ceiling tiles, designed by different students, decorating the new science room soon.

Maths Wizards

Mr. Adams introduced our team of Maths Wizards in assembly today. Every week the Maths Wizards will write a special problem on the Maths Board and anyone can have a go at solving it! Remember, put your solutions in the wizard hats and the BIS Wizards will choose the best ones.

Ms Sue Hill, Head of Primary
