Welcome to the Computing & ICT department yearly update. Where to start? It has been an exciting year for both students and staff. We launched our department website which contains all the resources that our examination classes need. It also contains all the unit planning for our younger students, so they can prepare themselves for each lesion. The website address is
Please feel free to regularly view the site as it is continually being updated.
We also launched the Computing & ICT blog which can be seen from the Hub whenever you go onto to check out the latest school updates and the blog address is
. Again all students can reach the website from the blog and can reach all resources that they need to study and be successful at ICT.
We are proud to announce that next year we are offering Computing at IGCSE. This is a natural progression from having incorporated computing into primary and the younger years academic studies. We have already had a lot of students show interest and we think it is an ideal subject for out mathematically inclined students. At the moment there is a global skills shortage in the computing field and those students that study computing science at school and then pursue computing at higher education are assured of a glittering future. Who knows, the school might be harbouring the next Mark Zuckerberg………
On a final note we would like to say good-bye and good luck to our year 13 students who are all off to university after a well deserved summer holiday. It has been a pleasure teaching them and we wish them every success in their future studies and career. We would also like to say well done to everyone who took their practical ICT exams earlier on this year. We are confident that they have all done very well, both at IGCSE and AS level. So all that is left is to wish everyone sitting their theory exams, good luck and also to wish everyone a wonderful summer in July.
