Well we’ve been talking about it for 4 years but last weekend finally saw our first graduation. It was a wonderful event, well supported by students, parents and staff. Mr Byrne, Maurice Nguyen and HE Giles Lever, the British Ambassador to Vietnam, all gave very poignant and meaningful speeches. Sad as I am to be leaving BIS and Vietnam, it was a brilliant occasion to experience before I finally leave. Our 13 pioneering graduates are heading to 9 different countries for their universities. I have written most week in my HUB articles over the last 4 years that our programme has contained the phrase ‘preparing our students to enter some of the most competitive universities around the World’ and now this has proved to be correct. I am very grateful to Mr Airdrie and Mr Byrne for their great work in planning and delivering the graduation.

We held our 4th ever Prom today. From the start this has always been an inclusive event with students from all year groups coming together to celebrate the end of a busy and successful year. My thanks go to the Secondary Student Council, supported by Mr Toner, for organising the event.

Today also saw one of the highlights of the school year, Sprint Maths! This fun event combines maths skills, athleticism and understanding Mr Airdrie’s various rules. As usual the teachers had a mixed day. Well done to Dalat for being winner among year 9 and 12 and Hanoi and Hue for being winner among Year 7 and 8!

Mr Christopher Short, Head of Secondary
