  • Battle of the Bands BIS Hanoi 2017

On the October 6th , the auditorium filled with an air of excitement, suspense and energy -- it was the first ‘BIS Battle of the Bands.’

Whilst our six competitor bands took their places, we were fortunate to experience an electric performance from the wonderful My Dung. She certainly set the tone with her creative presentation of the classic ‘I believe I can fly’ and it was fantastic!

We then watched in awe as six well-rehearsed and dedicated bands stepped onto the stage. We went from a beautiful indie band, to a 10 piece pop dedication, to a rock band and even a Music Technology Performance on the LaunchPads. We were even lucky to see a debut composition of one of our year 8 students. The variety was exceptional and all of our students did a really fabulous job!

Together, three teachers and My Dung had to make the difficult decision as to who they would crown the winner of BIS Battle of the Bands 2017. Whilst all bands did a great job, the creativity, the accuracy, the energy and the skill of ‘The Smiling Criminals’ saw them come swinging into 1st place! An elaborate performance of a mash up, finishing with an exquisite Smooth Criminal arrangement on the electric violin made them very deserving winners! Well done boys!
