Dear Parents,

So many trips have taken place this week in Primary but I would like to highlight our two residential trips.

For some children, the Year 4 trip is the first time they have travelled away from home to spend a night without parents. This can be daunting for both children and parents however our Year 4 team of explorers were really brave and fearless this week. They departed on Wednesday morning, under a cloudy sky, to start their two days of fun in Ba Vi. Luckily the sun shone in time for their first activities which involved planting rice, catching fish and making pancakes. By night time, the children were so tired that there were very few problems when it came to bedtime! The children returned safety, full of stories about their adventures, on Thursday afternoon. Well done, Year 4 – learning outside is certainly fun!

The Year 5 trip provided an excellent chance for the children to learn more about the environment and protection of endangered species as they were immersed in wildlife during their time at Cuc Phuong National Park. The trip involved lots of trekking along the forest paths during which time litter collection and planting trees ensured that BIS were adding to the beauty and conservation of the natural environment. Night trips to see the pangolin conservation project and feed the endangered pygmy loris were experiences that I’m sure will be treasured memories for years to come. Year 5 were amazing explorers and super ambassadors for the BIS. Year 5 – you made your teachers very proud!

Now, it is time for a well-deserved holiday for our students and teachers. I hope you all have a lovely break and I look forward to welcoming all our British International School Hanoi families back on April 17th for a new term of learning.

Sue Hill, Head of Primary
