I hope that everybody enjoyed the holiday. It was great to see the students returning to British International School Hanoi on Wednesday refreshed and ready for their next challenge, which is...
The End of Year Exams 29 May- 2 June 2017
Students in Year 7, 8 and 9 will present for internal exams in Mathematics, English, Vietnamese (nationals only), Science, Geography and History. Students need to be proactive in their revision. Throughout next week they should be asking their teacher for advice on how to prepare for the exams.
Thirty Nine is the Magic Number
Students in Year 10 and 12 will present for their third PCT during the exam week. They will be expected to have revised the content of all their subjects in preparation for these challenging exams. IGCSE and IB students have been learning since August 2016 and there is a lot of content for them to master. I urge the students to allocate significant revision time to the next 24 days. They should add at least an hour to their Monday to Friday homework schedule, whilst on Saturday and Sunday, they ought to revise for a minimum of 3 hours per day. If they can study effectively for 39 hours, they will enjoy personal success in the exams. Most importantly, they will build a solid foundation for their final year’s work in Year 11 and Year 13.
Parent Meeting Tuesday 9 May, 9am in the library
All parents are welcome to join us for our 4th parent meeting consultation. Members of our assessment committee will be explaining to parents how your children’s work will be assessed next year. If you want to know more about how to support your child’s academic progress, this session is essential. If you have friends with children in Year 6, please invite them along, too.
Benefit Concert at the National Academy of Music, 17 May 2017, 6:30 pm
I hope that families will join us for a celebration of BIS Hanoi’s musical talent on the evening of the 27 May. The event showcases the musical performances of a selection of our wonderful students. They will be supported by Juilliard’s Benjamin Moermond. There will also be a special piano performance by Pham Quynh Trang (BIS parent). Tickets are a 100,000 VND and are available at www.ticketbox.vn. All proceeds will benefit the community partners of BIS Hanoi.
Parents of students in Year 8, 9 and 10 should encourage their children to sign up for the U15 FOBISIA trials. We dominated the Under 13 event and we know that our ambitious sporting students will want to participate in the Under 15 November 2017 tournament. Trials are being held this term so sign up outside the PE office by 12 May 2017.
