Green Week is coming!

  • Britist International School Hanoi - Green Week

Dear Parents,
Giving pupils the chance to be heard and to lead initiates in school is really important. The Primary Student Council has been very busy at the moment, planning the Green Week activities which will take place next week. Today, in both the Phase 2 and the Phase 3 assembly, members of the Student Council confidently and passionately delivered a presentation to all students and staff to explain how and why we need act now to conserve the planet.

On Friday next week, students across the whole school will be encouraged to dress in green in order to raise awareness of environmental issues. The Student Council will be acting as ‘Green Police’ to make sure we are all switching lights and air conditioners off when we leave our classrooms. All children are also encouraged to make individual or group ‘green promises’ to say how they will help the environment. These will be video recorded by Mr. Lindeman and also written on leaves which will be added to our green tree.

In all classrooms and offices, we have all been given a peace lily and special instructions on how to care for the plant. Next week, all teams will be submitting their selfie photo entries to a special competition which will be judged by Mr. Kevin, Ms. Hung and I are very proud of our peace lily and are hopeful of a prize! Winners will be invited to plant a fruit tree in our new orchard which is located by the British International School Hanoi Garden.

There will also be special recycling bins outside the library to collect plastic bottles and empty food containers, toilet rolls and kitchen rolls, cardboard, fabric off cuts and egg cartons. Please help to recycle by sending any of these items into school so we can reuse them. Finally, there will be recyclable bags on sale which have been designed by our Year 5 students. In addition to helping us to cut down on the use of  plastic bags the sale of the re-useable bags will help us to raise money for our community partner, Hy Vong School. The cost of the bag is 100.000vnd.
