    Caroline Elliot

    Year 1 Teacher

    Caroline Elliot

    Caroline achieved her Post Graduate Diploma in Primary teaching in Aberdeen, Scotland. She taught for 3 years in Scotland and then ventured into the international teaching world. She enjoyed 3 years teaching at Garden International School, a British school in Bangkok, where she taught Year 3 and then Year 1. There she took on roles such as ICT coordinator, Year Book editor and School Fair coordinator. Next she moved to the British International School of Moscow, teaching Year 4 and taking on the responsibility of Maths coordinator for the school.

    Caroline enjoys travelling and exploring the culture of the countries she works in. She especially enjoys the food and will sometimes even attempt to cook local dishes. She enjoys reading and tries to pass on her love of books to the children she teaches. Caroline has been teaching at BIS Hanoi since August 2012.

    Tamara Wooldridge

    Tamara is originally from the United Kingdom and graduated from the University of Winchester. This is her first time teaching in an international school. Before moving to Hanoi, Tamara taught for 5 years across the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 in a Primary school in Southampton. During her time teaching in Southampton, Tamara was both History and Geography co-ordinator. In addition to her passion for teaching, Tamara loves to travel, explore new places and learn about different cultures.

    Louise Upton

    For the last 3 years, Louise has worked at Lyndhurst First School in Worthing, West Sussex. During her time there she has taught both Year 1 and Year 2 and has been P.E coordinator. During her time as P.E coordinator the school has won numerous locality competitions including Gymnastics, Multi-Skills and Boccia. She also loves to teach dance, gymnastics and trampolining and has enjoyed running extra-curricular clubs. 
    In addition to teaching, Louise enjoys travelling to new countries such as, Hong Kong, Uganda and across Europe. She relishes the opportunity to try new cuisines and exploring the culture and tradition that these places have to offer.

    Rebecca Long

    For the last 6 years, Rebecca has worked in Sandy Lane, Bradford. During her time there she has taught Years 5 and 6 and most recently Year 2. She has been English and ICT co-ordinator along with leading Key Stage 1 and Upper Key Stage 2. Having worked as a librarian for a number of years, she has a passion for reading and has enjoyed running reading groups, book related events such as World Book Day and storytimes. She also has a real enthusiasm for performing arts, staging a number of successful productions and co-ordinating the school’s participation in the Young Voices choir. 
    In addition to teaching, Rebecca enjoys travelling to places across Europe, USA, Russia, the Middle East and Thailand. Having studied History and Politics, she loves the opportunity to explore different histories, cultures and traditions.

    Molly trained as a teacher in the United Kingdom. She taught for two years in County Durham, as a KS2 classroom teacher and a P.E coordinator. After leaving the United Kingdom, Molly moved to Istanbul, where she spent two years teaching in KS1. Whilst in Istanbul, Molly thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history and culture of the City, as well as taking lessons in the Turkish language. When she is not teaching, Molly thoroughly enjoys reading, hiking, and exploring new and interesting places.

    Bethan Watts

    Bethan graduated from Roehampton University with a BA Hons in Early Childhood studies. Following this, Bethan went on to graduate with a PGCE in primary teaching from Hertfordshire University. Since 2014, Bethan has worked as a Year 3 teacher and Head of Geography at Hammond Academy in Hemel Hempstead, UK, where she also led the Rights Respecting School Award. In addition to this, Bethan is qualified in leading Philosophy for children. During a recent trip to Cambodia, Bethan spent a month teaching English as a Foreign Language to children in a small, rural school. In her spare time, Bethan enjoys arts and crafts, cooking and travelling.

    Sally Tong

    While originally from the UK, Sally has taught for three years at St. Michael’s International School, Kobe, Japan. Prior to that, she worked as a Primary Teacher and has been the MFL and Creative Curriculum Coordinator at North Walsham Junior School, UK. She enjoys combining her passion with various extra-curricular activities, including Language and Drama clubs. Sally thrives on travelling in different countries and enjoys capturing moments through photography. After being in Vietnam for two years, she is still exploring Vietnam and learning about Vietnamese culture, while sampling great food!

    Paul Wild

    Year 4 Teacher/ Phase 2 Leader

    Paul Wild

    Mr Wild taught for 3 years in the UK, before joining BIS in 2014. He has worked as a Year 2 and Year 4 teacher. Mr Wild was the Primary Science Subject Leader for 2 years before becoming the Phase 2 Leader, which he loves. Mr Wild loves playing sport and challenging himself.  In the past he played lots of football but also competed at cricket, rugby, basketball and athletics in the UK. Since moving to Vietnam he has decided to take on a few new challenges and is learning to play tennis, joined a netball team for the first time and is taking up Ultra Running, having completed the London Marathon in 2014. There may even be a triathlon on the horizon.

    Julie Lee

    Julie has taught across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and spent her early career teaching in Manchester before moving to Malaysia to work at Garden International School. She moved back to the UK to work in Hampshire and joined the Leadership Team as Assessment Leader and took up the role of teacher governor. She moved back to Malaysia with her young family and taught at The Alice Smith School. She joined the Middle Leadership Team before becoming Head of Gifted and Talented provision. She is currently studying a Masters in Education with the University of Bath.
    Since moving to Vietnam, Julie has been determined to learn to cook and has loved joining the cooking classes in Hanoi. She loves travelling with her family; whether just out and about exploring in the city or trekking through jungles and up mountains.

    Craig Driver

    Mr Driver taught for 7 years in the UK, dividing his time between Brighton and London. He has worked as a Year 2, 4 and 6 teacher as well as volunteering in Reception and Nursery. Whilst at his previous schools, Mr. Driver has taken on roles including Maths Coordinator and Literacy Leader as well as undertaking the role of KS2 Leader for 2 years. 

    Mr Driver loves reading, writing and photography, having worked professionally as a journalist for a number of years prior to teaching. In the past he was the captain of his school football team and enjoyed time playing tennis, badminton and swimming. Since moving to Vietnam he has relished the opportunity to learn a new language, continue to develop his programming and computing skills and reignited a passion for cooking.

    Since graduating from the University of Plymouth with a BEd (Hons) in Primary education and English, Emma taught at a junior school in Bournemouth, UK for 6 years. During that time she was also the English coordinator. After that, she taught for 3 years on Jeju Island, South Korea in an international school working with Year 5 and was in charge of PSHE. Emma has run many different extra curricular activities during her career including ukelele, school musicals, Art, French, Spanish and SCUBA diving. When she's not teaching she enjoys reading, travelling, cooking, cycling and diving.

    Gill Ower

    Following her graduation with a Bachelor's Degree in Law, Gill spent the early part of her career working in the Scottish child protection system before her itchy feet got the better of her and she emigrated to Australia, stopping off for a spot of South East Asia travel along the way.  Over 25 years later, she was delighted to have the opportunity to return to the region when she and her family relocated to Hanoi in 2016. Gill joins BIS Hanoi having taught in two British international schools in Spain, her home for the preceding 16 years.  In her free time, Gill enjoys the performing arts, hiking, crochet, basketball - watching not playing - and hopes one day to see the Hanoi Buffaloes win the VBA.
